Asthma

Asthma is a condition that affects the lungs and makes it hard to breathe. It happens when the airways, or tubes that carry air in and out of your lungs, become swollen or narrow. This can cause symptoms like wheezing (a whistling sound when you breathe), coughing, chest tightness, and shortness of breath. Asthma can be triggered by things like allergies, exercise, cold air, or smoke. While it can’t be cured, it can be managed with medication and by avoiding things that trigger it, helping people with asthma live normal lives.
