Flu

Descriptions

The flu, or influenza, is a virus that makes you sick and affects your nose, throat, and lungs. You can catch it when someone who is infected coughs, sneezes, or talks, or by touching surfaces that have the virus on them.

Common symptoms of the flu include:

  • Fever and chills
  • Cough
  • Sore throat
  • Runny or stuffy nose
  • Body aches
  • Feeling very tired
  • Headache
  • Sometimes nausea or diarrhea (more common in kids)
  •

Flu symptoms usually appear quickly and can feel worse than a regular cold. To feel better, it’s important to rest, drink plenty of fluids, and sometimes take medicine. If the symptoms are really bad or if you are very young, old, or have health problems, you should see a doctor.
