Plugged ears

Descriptions

Plugged ears, or blocked ears, happen when something prevents sound from traveling properly through the ear. It can make you feel like your ears are full or like you’re hearing things muffled.

Common causes of plugged ears include:

  • Earwax buildup: Too much wax can block the ear canal.
  • Changes in air pressure: Like when you’re on an airplane or driving in the mountains.
  • Fluid in the ear: This can happen due to a cold, sinus infection, or allergies.
  • Ear infections: Swelling or fluid buildup can cause your ears to feel plugged.

Most of the time, plugged ears go away on their own, but if it lasts a long time or causes pain, it’s a good idea to see a doctor.
