Stomach flu

Descriptions

Stomach flu, or viral gastroenteritis, is an infection that makes your stomach and intestines feel sick. It’s usually caused by a virus, not the flu virus.

Common signs of stomach flu include:

  • Nausea (feeling like you might vomit)
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea (loose, watery stools)
  • Stomach cramps
  • Fever and tiredness

You can catch stomach flu by being around someone who is infected, eating contaminated food, or drinking dirty water. It often goes away on its own in a day or two, but it’s important to drink plenty of fluids to stay hydrated. If symptoms are very bad or last longer than a couple of days, you should see a doctor.
